On the 11th February 2017, the Hunter Valley Paddlesports Club will host paddlers from the Central Coast Canoe Club and Brisbane Waters Paddlers to compete for a Perpetual Cup.
Last year was the inaugural event, which was hosted and won by BWP closely followed by HVPC, with CCCC third. This year HVPC would like to invite members from each club to participate and compete on the waters of Cockle Creek.
The event will cater for people of all ages, skills, and fitness. It is envisaged that handicapping will be Divisional, in "half km/hr groups" similar to the PaddleNSW marathon series. Each Club's Handicapper will select Divisions for their Members.
Entries will be accepted on the day but if you plan to participate then could let the Secretary know by COB Fri 10 Feb, including details of your proposed distance and division. This will greatly help with event organisation. Event details follow:
- 5km and 10km courses
- participants to be grouped into 0.5kph divisions as per PaddleNSW marathon series so the cup caters for paddlers of all abilities.
- scoring as per PaddleNSW marathon series i.e. 1st 8 points, 2nd, 6 points, 3rd 4 points, 4th 2 points. First member from club who gets a place gets points, next and subsequent don't but block members from other clubs from getting points.
- registration open from 0800 with race brief at 0830 and race start from 0900, with fastest divisions to start first to reduce potential for wash riding out of division. But could delay if you think this would be too early for your members to travel.
- cost of $5 per participant
