Hello fellow kayakers, this year we have a number of people from our club taking part in the Hawkesbury Classic on the 25th of October. The Classic is a major event on the kayaking calendar and raises money for the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation. The race starts on the Saturday afternoon and continues through the evening for 111klm from Windsor to Brooklyn on the majestic Hawkesbury River.
The Hunter Valley Canoe Club (H.V.C.C.) is holding a gathering for competitors, support crews and generally anyone interested in the Classic and has secured a room at Club Macquarie on Thursday 31st of July at 7 – 9 pm. The night will have experienced Hawkesbury Classic kayakers to share their knowledge, expertise, incidents (both good and bad) and stories about their adventures in the classic. There will also be experienced land crews who also have their own happenings, and occurrences of the classic to tell and informing us of what it takes to manage and support their kayaker in this great event.
We are inviting all land crews and competitors plus anyone who would like to be a part of this great adventure to come along on the evening. So fellow kayakers, if you feel you would like to take on this event as a competitor or offer yours services as a support crew member, or just out of interest, then H.V.C.C. would love to have you come along and join us.
If you have competed in the Classic or been a land crew member and would like to share your experience with us novice contenders on the night it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Mark Bretag on: 0408122321 for arrangements.
This year H.V.C.C. are going to compete and take part under our club banner, so let’s all get together and showcase to the other competitors the proud history, enthusiasm and sportsmanship that the Hunter Valley Canoe Club has to offer.
